Our advantages

WHAT MAKES US A SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS?

Organic & Chemical Free

We only use 100% GOTS certified organic cotton grown without pesticides and processed without chemicals. We use plant based dyes or Okeo Tex dyes to colour our fabrics and fibres.

Energy, Utility & Building

Our production uses water management strategies to minimise water usage.

Recycling Commitment :

Our packaging is made from recycled Cotton Paper or recycled card.

Conservation & Environment

We only use natural fibres like cotton and jute. All of which are compostable at the end of their long life of reusability. We use raw, unbleached cotton and minimally processed natural fibres.

Artisan & Professional

Some of our products are hand-woven and many use ancient weaving methods that take time and artisan knowledge to produce.

Our unique Ryce tote is the NEW younger brother of Eddie Tote. Where Eddie is made from a unique Jute-Cotton blend, Ryce is made from recycled cotton.

  • 100% recycled cotton canvas
  • 6 internal pockets
  • Lighter weight
  • Wide handles
  • 20 kgs

Built large and strong for serious shopping or fun. The pockets are great for keeping olive oil bottles upright, safely stashing cartons of eggs or celery and keeping delicate items from getting crushed. Or you can keep things organised when you're out and about, at the office, beach or enjoying a picnic.

As soon as you pick up our tote bag you will know it is something special. Thus it truly makes the perfect gift for that friend, colleague or family member who 'has everything'.

What is Recycled Cotton?

Recycled cotton, also known as up-cycled cotton, is made from post-consumer or post-industrial waste. That is, it is either made from used clothes or from the scraps from factory floors when clothing and other textiles are made. When cutting out a T-shirt or even our own organic bags there are scraps of fabric that cannot be used.

It is harder to recycle clothing, as much of it is mixed fibres and printed or dyed. But, the environmental impact of recycling factory scraps is still very high and is how we source our recycled yarn.

Once the cotton waste has been collected it is sorted, chipped and pulled apart to produce cotton fibres. These fibres are then washed and spun into new yarn, which is then woven into fabric. Recycled cotton fibres are shorter than the original material and harder to process and weave, which is why it is still an emerging fabric despite being possible for many years. You end up with a beautifully textured fabric that is as strong as cotton canvas and enviably more sustainable.

Cotton recycling conserves resources, reduces waste, and doesn't involve harmful chemicals or other substances. The process significantly saves water, energy and carbon dioxide emissions.

By recycling just one ton of cotton, up to 765 cubic meters (765,000 litres) of water can be saved - compared to virgin cotton production.

Recycled cotton is natural, bio-based, biodegradable, compostable and re-recyclable. A sustainable option, but its availability is still limited.

Certifications

Our Ryce tote is certified by Global Recycled Standard and Oeko Tex to contain no harmful substances.

We also have Social Accountability Accreditation for our manufacturing and our packaging is FSC recycled paper
